Day 49 – My journey to find reasons to vote for Hillary rather than just against Trump.
She is fighting for people with disabilities.
One in five Americans has some disability and 50% of Americans are affected as either caregivers or the disabled. Hillary’s first job out of law school was to research why so many children weren’t in school (at the Children’s Defense Fund). It turns out that, for many, their disabilities prevented them. Her research fueled the subsequent legislation requiring equal access. It should surprise no one that “equal access” can cover a multitude of sins and shortcomings.
Only 30% of the disabled are employed, yet 70% say they would like to be. There is still a lot of work to be done. The following articles talk about where Hillary stands and what she’s done relative to the other candidates. The first link compares the candidates. The last link seems to be a site that supports Hillary, but they are both critical and demanding of more so I chose to include it. The “Mom Responds” article is a short, but moving, insight into the work that still needs to be done.
