Day 70 – My journey to find reasons to vote for Hillary rather than just against Trump.

Because she chooses to stay and fight.

Okay, this may be my most controversial one yet. Trump’s words: “She’s a fighter.” She is. Her mother made her that way. When Hillary was young and being bullied by a neighbor, she tried to stay inside to avoid it. Her mother made her go out and confront it. Hillary’s first semester at Wellesley, like a lot of other homesick freshman, she called home and said she didn’t think she was going to make it. Her mother told her she couldn’t quit.

No one has to search their memories very hard to think of times Hillary has been knocked down. Every time, she comes back and fights. I would not have made the choices she’s made (I am divorced, for example, some might think for much less cause), but I admire her for choosing to honor her word and stick to it and just keep on going.

I don’t know a lot about her marriage. I don’t want to. I do know my first recollection of Bill came about because of Hillary. I remember thinking that I could admire the man who chose to marry her. But I do see love when I see them together. I also see the scars. They’re all there in a very imperfect union. She chose to honor her vows and fight. I don’t think I would have, but good for her. That’s who I want fighting for me.
