Day 40 — My journey to find reasons to vote for Hillary and not against Trump.
Hillary wants to help the refugees.
Today seems like a good day to remind people about Aleppo; what it means and why it matters. I’ve attached a link to the Wikipedia entry about the battles there and what they mean.
I want to remind everyone about the poetry inside one of America’s most iconic symbols:
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
As a country, we’ve stood by those words for centuries. The family of nearly everyone reading this came from somewhere. There are others who need us. And America certainly has its thumb on the situation in Syria and has some responsibility to its citizens.
Hillary wants us to allow 65,000 PROPERLY VETTED refugees. That is a drop in the bucket. Lebanon has increased its total population by 25% with the refugees they’ve taken in. 65,000 refugees wouldn’t increase New York City’s population by 25%. So far, this year, the US has let in about 3,000 – that’s 1% of Connecticut’s population. We have room.
